Five Reasons Why Food Is Medicine | Possible

You are what you eat! There is no phrase truer than this. But these days, people are trying to replace the goodness of natural food with artificial supplements.

Henry G. Beiler wrote a book titled Food Is Your Best Medicine in 1965 after treating his patients for 50 years with proper diet instead of pills. In it, he proposed how the best way of treating diseases is through a proper diet.

Food is a medicine which gives your immune system the ammunition it needs to protect you.

Here are 5 reasons why food is the best medicine:

Food is the best medicine

Prevention is better than cure

This may be the truest of all the clichés that exist. A healthy and balanced diet is the best way to reduce your chances of falling ill.

Studies have shown that people who follow a diet that provide them essential nutritional qualities are less prone to diseases and maladies.

Food regulates hormonal balance

It is accepted medically that hormones determine the physical and neurological conditions of human beings.

Hormonal balance means there are fewer chances of any health disorder.

More importantly, in the case of a hormonal imbalance, a proper and well-suited diet can restore that balance.

Food for your health

A proper diet reduces the risk of cancer

Studies show that 35% of cancers are related to nutritional factors. A proper diet can help you eliminate the chances of these types of cancers.

For example, recent studies have shown that the inclusion of food such as broccoli, pomegranates, etc. lower your risk of getting cancer.

Food has detoxifying qualities

Our environment is full of toxins that get absorbed into our body through our skin and breathing. These toxins accumulate over time and can cause a variety of diseases.

Foods such as apples help to detoxify our body and get rid of harmful toxins.

Food can help reduce the effects of genetic disorders

The effects of genetic disorders such as diabetes can not only be controlled through a proper diet but can also be reversed.

Doctors have recently begun to advise diets that help control and reverse the effects of such genetic diseases.

Obviously, this doesn’t mean you start eating all the food you can! To lead an active, healthy life, spend time researching or with a nutritionist to develop a solid nutrition plan.
