Taking smarter steps to lose weight

Hi Karishma!

In today’s world, smartness counts. If you are not smart enough then your hard work will also go waste.

Same applies for weight loss, if you really have to lose some of your extra kg’s, you have to be patient and smart enough.

Punishing yourself for weight loss

Most people go for crash diets as they are so desperate for losing weight. They avoid all calories, all sorts and foods and also go for vigorous exercise.

All these efforts may help but in the long run, there will be rebound weight gain. You will be deprived of many nutrients and as a result, you will end up gaining more weight

What to do?

You must have heard that slow and steady wins the race. Apply that in your weight loss efforts. There are some simple tips to lose weight and you can call this “smart weight loss tips”.

Tip 1: Answer your cravings

If you have started a diet plan for weight loss, it is but natural that you will get cravings for an unhealthy snack such as junk foods, cookies etc.

You need not lock your mouth as that will aggravate your cravings. Ultimately you can’t resist the craving and will fill your belly with all unhealthy foods.

Now, this is really not fair! Understand your body and mind, and bribe it sometimes so that it will not open its wide mouth all at once.

Tip 2: Just 15 minutes with your friends

No time for exercise? We understand your tight schedule but go for a walk with your best buddy and that’s it.

Enjoy your work out while talking and jogging with friends. You just have to spare only 15 to 30 minutes.

Tip 3: Your breakfast

Have a lot of fibrous food in breakfast such as oats, fruits, whole wheat bread etc. These foods will keep you full for a longer time.

You will feel energetic and less hungry. Do you know that your breakfast is the most important meal of the day? So be wise with your breakfast.

Tip 4: Eat slowly and with a pause

If the main reason for your obesity is that you overeat, then there is the best tip to prevent this.

It takes some time to realise your brain that you are already full, so you keep on eating as you still feel hungry.

Eating your food slowly and with some pause will send signals to your brain that you are already full. This way you avoid overeating.

Tip 5: Be happy

Do you know that if you are stressed you will gain more weight?

Don’t get obsessed with your weight as this may produce stress hormones in your body such as cortisol which wreaks havoc in your body.

This stress hormone also makes you hungrier so you gulp on more food than needed.

Last but not the least tip:

If your weight is still talk of the town, then you really must go for some blood tests such as thyroid functioning test. You may be having other hormonal issues as well.

Consult a physician and know the medical reason behind your weight gain. Once your underlying cause for weight gain is diagnosed, then you need not do many efforts for weight loss.
