Wouldn’t that be pure awesome if we could just shave our belly fat every day just like we shave or trim our beards?

Having an imagination means endless possibilities and no one’s taxing you on that but unfortunately, not all that we wish for comes true. *sniff*

What to do for belly fat?

Every day you may hear of dangerous and ineffective gimmicks as how to lose belly fat but really there isn’t a magic bullet that aims at abdominal fat in particular and help your spare tire go away, for good.

If you are thinking crunches, well, it takes a lot more than that. Pudginess around the stomach is quite common and has a huge impact on your overall health.

Is stress the main culprit?

When our cortisol levels are high due to stress, we start to gain weight. When this happens, the cortisol tends to break down lean muscle (the type of tissue that burns calories most efficiently) and also causes fat storage in the abdominal region. But, here are 5 things that you need to incorporate in your daily routine to flatter your belly.

Sleep

Working late at night when you want to lose weight is not a good idea. When you are tired, your body produces more ghrelin, which triggers cravings for sugar and other fat-building foods so make sure to get at least 8 hours of sleep.

Short bursts of exercises

It doesn’t really depend on the number of crunches that you may be doing in one day. Yes, it may fetch you stronger abdominal muscles but you won’t be losing any significant fat.

However, if you combine crunches with cardio exercises like planking, you can lose more belly fat.

Sugar is evil

Reduce the intake of sugar as it can be converted into fat. Eat a lot of protein, vegetables, whole grains, and also replace unhealthy sugary snacks with nuts.

Regulating Fats

When under stress, the body secretes the cortisol hormone in excess. Vitamin C balances the cortisol spikes and is also essential for making carnitine, a compound used by the body to turn fat into fuel.

Eat fat!

Fight fire with fire. Good fats include foods rich in Omega-3’s found in salmon, avocados, and walnuts. They fill you up easy as well.
