Weight loss tips to consider while following the above diet chart

  • Superfoods are the biggest key to quick and healthy weight loss. Superfoods are nothing but regular foods that have concentrated with nutrients. They could be millets, seeds, certain grass varieties or even fiber-rich foods. Consume them in measured amounts every day and see your weight melting.
  • Always drink enough water. Many times thirst is masked as hunger. So when you are hungry, try drinking water first. It is a proven natural way to fill up the stomach and preventing yourself from gorging later.
  • Always preclude lunch with salads or chewy soups. You will be tempted to eat less rice or roti or whatever is for lunch.
  • Ensure all your meals have a protein source. If any meal is lacking in it, throw in an egg or dal to ensure protein.
  • One day in the week can be designated as a cheat day. It will help you to manage cravings and get back on your Indian diet chart for weight loss.
  • On a cheat day, do not overindulge on sweets or fried items. If you feel like it, have a small bite-sized portion to simply curb the craving.
  • Never at any point during the diet, starve yourself. There is evidence that starvation, in fact, leads to overeating.
  • Remember, the short-term goal is not going to yield results. Hence, always focus on clean, healthy eating that promotes weight loss and at the same time can be adopted throughout your life.

5 Reasons Why You Are Not Losing Weight Even After Following A Diet Plan

Our nutritionists after research have debunked the most common couch-potato-no-exercise-hence-obese myth right there!

Below are the five common reasons for weight gain that most of us overlook.

1. Hormones

Remember when you are hungry but actually angry? There is a term for that, and it is called hangry! The anger is an emotional or mood specific response to hunger, something controlled by hormones.

It is proven that hormones can either make you fat or even result in weight loss. They form a complex hormonal cocktail that greatly influences hunger, feeling of fullness, even fat storage pattern and the places it gets stored.

Any Indian weight loss diet plan cashes in on this and makes you eat often to prevent hormone and enzyme spikes.

2. Vitamins and minerals

Miss them and you miss weight loss goals!

So you thought that burger hurts your waistline by only helping you pile on the calories? Well, there is more to your food than just calories!

calcium and vitamin D rich foods

Studies have established that nutrients such as vitamin D, calcium and B-complex can influence your weight [1].

This reinforces the fact that it is important to look at food in a more wholesome manner (like a healthy Indian diet plan) than just calories, cheese, butter, oil, fat, etc!

3. Toxins

What are toxins? Everything around us; be it the pollution, smoke, food colours, food additives, plastics etc are all toxins and these have the potential to cause obesity.

Research finds that excess exposure to toxins make our body store toxins in small fat pockets. Also, toxins reduce the pace of metabolism that eventually, slow down the process of weight loss. That’s why it is very important to detox the body once in a while.

4. Sleep

If you do not get enough sleep, then your body tries to cope up with the related exhaustion in multiple ways. And one such coping mechanism is the increased secretion of stress hormones. This makes you susceptible to infections among other things.

Also, according to the American Journal of Epidemiology, sleep deprivation also results in disturbed levels of hunger hormones like Ghrelin and Leptin. This results in overeating [2].

5. Stress

Stress is like an enemy that weakens your body from all angles. Not only does it release fat-storing hormones, but you also tend to reach out to sugar and salt-laden foods to cope with the stress.

Though this is psychological, choosing smaller plates and bowls really works.

Weight loss is believed to happen when energy spent (calories burned) is more than the energy consumed (in the form of food).

However, there are 3 components of energy expenditure

          Hi Alisha,

There’s no definite answer to say this. Everyone’s body behaves differently and that is why some might lose more while some others might lose less weight. 🙂

  5. Arfa says:

    hey,
I just read this article. And I desperately want to lose weight. So if I follow this, say, how much will I lose in 4 weeks? Please reply

    • Shobha Shastry says:

      Hello Arfa,

Do remember the weight loss tips and the diet plan is very general. Weight loss is dependent on numerous factors: Hormones, stress levels, sleep levels are among the few. As you know, your hormones may react differently to a food. Similarly, we hardly know how much is your stress level (for stress hormone release).

We suggest you visit our nutritionist who will analyse your body composition type and let you know which foods will suit you the best. Here is the link for a FREE Consultation. http://get.truweight.in/free-consultation-website/.

Kindly enter your details and we will schedule an appointment.

  6. subrata mondal says:

hi,I m subrata,,,student,,please give me a diet chart to reduce weight loss for me ,specially for a student, and how to control weight loss,,,

    • Shobha Shastry says:

      Hi Subrata,

We are glad you have made your health as a priority and we are more than happy to help. To start with, there can’t be a general diet plan because your body composition, your schedule, and most importantly your taste will differ. The one given in the blog is a general diet plan and you can follow it too.

We would, instead, strongly suggest for you to visit our dietician for a FREE Nutrition Consultation and understand what kind of dietary approach suits you the best! Here is the link to avail it. http://get.truweight.in/free-consultation-website/

As a student, your weight loss can be steered in the right direction and it can even gain the right speed. Take the example of a fellow student Riddhiman who lost 15 kilos effortlessly, just by eating right. https://truweight.in/success-stories-riddhiman15-years-old-school-boy-lost-21-kgs-increased-his-stamina-2/

If he can do it, so can you.

    • Shobha Shastry says:

      Hello Priya,

We can understand that weight loss can be really a challenging task. However, with the right diet, motivation, and lifestyle changes you can get the desired result.

Truweight aptly understands this and has crafted a scientific way to lose weight simply by eating healthy foods. • Shobha Shastry says:

      Hi Meet,

We appreciate how you take efforts to improve your health. Being a pure vegetarian can help you in many ways (by eliminating saturated fats) but if you don’t consume a balanced diet, then you can be deficient in nutrients! Deficiency can also be one of the root causes of obesity or weight gain.

  13. Yash singh says:

I am asking a this question for my sister .
    She does nt eat much
Nvr eat more the 3 roti in a meal
Yet she is 100 kg. will this diet plan work fr her?

    • Shobha Shastry says:

      Hi Yash,

As we have mentioned in our earlier blogs, diet is just 1 part of the weight gain. There could be multiple factors at play. For example hormones. Hormonal imbalance can really make a person store fat easily. Similarly, lifestyle factors such as deficiency of nutrients, stress, physical activity all play an important role.

      So how to manage them?
Thankfully, our food has the power. If the correct foods (or superfoods) are included in the diet, then the hormone changes (even of stress hormones) can be managed.

Our 4-week diet plan does include some of the superfoods but without further knowledge about what is the underlying problem, following any diet may not be of much help. We will, however, encourage your sister to try it out and tell us the results!

For a detailed and a specific diet plan according to your sister’s metabolism, you can have a chat with our Nutrition Coaches for FREE. Just enter her details in this link and we will get back with an appointment. Remember, we look at the holistic health, including suggesting how much physical activity is needed. Hope this helps.

Here is wishing your sister all the best in reaching her health goals.

  20. Dipak Patil says:

Everybody says that weight loss is an extremely difficult task that takes months and
sometimes years, and that you have to eat terribly boring foods to see any
    results.

    • Shobha Shastry says:

      Hello Dipak,

That is not true at all. Weight loss is not about starving, skipping your favourite foods, or gulping down bad tasting stuff! Come to Truweight and taste some of our Multi-seed laddoos, whole food granola bars, wholesome soups among others.

    • Shobha Shastry says:

      Hi Pooja,

Like we have told the others, this is a general diet plan. Although this plan has been created by expert nutrition coaches at Truweight, you will still need a personalized diet plan to be highly effective.

You could still follow this diet and let us know the feedback. For any more help, you can opt for the free first consultation!

    • Shobha Shastry says:

      Hello Arvind,

A good diet chart is the one which is balanced. This one, although crafted by experts at Truweight, is a general diet plan.

You could follow it or drop in for a free consultation with an expert present at any of the Truweight centres.

Let us also tell you, weighing yourself often is not going to give you the complete picture. You need to analyse your body composition completely which means th fat and muscle percentage too.

  22. Vijaya says:

Hi I am Vijaya and I am a student. I need to cut down atleast 5-6 kgs of weight (which I gained suddenly 6 months ago). Obviously my diet plan was not appropriate till date. Is it possible to loose 6 kgs with this plan? Should I join a gym to speed up weight loss?

    • Shobha Shastry says:

      Hi VIjaya,

We understand that being a student is a tough thing! We appreciate your attention to health even amidst the hectic studies.

About losing 6 kilos, it is very important to set a realistic and correct health goal. We would want to ask you the following questions:
      – Was this weight loss goal of 6 kgs given by a health professional or a nutritionist?
      – Were you following a proper diet plan before this?
      – Are you physically active? We do not mean a gym membership!

This diet plan is a very general one. Usually Truweight nutritionists conduct a thorough diet and medical history before prescribing a diet plan. Regarding exercising, it only contributes to 30% of the weight loss. The major 70% is by diet.

Our suggestion is for you to undertake our free nutritionist consultation and ask away all your doubts!

    • mehnaz says:

Thanks for the helpful information, especially an Indian Diet plan that could help in weight loss if followed seriously. In my opinion, to get best results, one should follow this diet plan along with some workouts as weight loss is not just about food or diet. Its a variety of things that includes workouts, diet and good sleep and consistency is the key to success.

    • Shobha Shastry says:

      Truly Sapna!

We couldnt agree with you more! Indeed a wholesome approach with diet, workout, good sleep, and discipline are the keys for weight loss that lasts a lifetime.

  24. Ankita says:

Hello, I’m 27, 4’10″& 72kgs. I wanna loose 20 kgs. I think I should follow your diet chart. It looks amazing. I wanted a free consultation.. but, I’m from Bhubaneswar. And it is not included in the location selection bar. Is there any other means of communication. Pls inform.

    • Shobha Shastry says:

      Hello Jamuna,

Weight loss depends on a lot of factors. Hormones being the biggest part. Since everyone differs, we can’t predict how much anyone will lose.

Having said that, losing 2-4 kilos in a month is a correct way to approach weight loss. You should never look at losing more weight rapidly and in an unhealthy way as that is sure to come back. Hope this helps!!

    • mehnaz says:

      Hi Leah,
It is good that you are concerned about your body. Managing weight depends largely on what you eat instead of what you don’t. And a regular exercise is always advised. I understand that at such an early age you should be even more careful before going for any diets blindly. Every person has a different body type and we tend to plan diets and weight loss programs accordingly. So instead of giving you a diet plan straightaway, it will be better if we get to know more about you. You can reach out to us at 08064514959. We shall be glad to help you. • mehnaz says:

      Hi Dhiraj,
When you are following a diet, follow diligently.Don’t take any long break, instead, weekly once or once in 10 days, you can be a little lenient. If you take long breaks before reaching your target weight, the weight you had lost may end up bouncing back. And with a healthy weight loss diet plan, you will be able to lose 2 kg to 2.5 kg in a month. Again, weight loss depends on sex, age, metabolic and clinical conditions. So it will vary from person to person.

    • mehnaz says:

      Hi Meena,

We have given options of 3 or 4 menus for each meal. That’s why it looks like heavy. All you have to do is mix and match. For example,
you can choose options of any two as in 1 south Indian and 1 north Indian option i.e, idlli sambhar or paratha with veg curry. This will help you keep a balance with the meals and won’t make you feel heavy. However, you must understand that losing weight shouldn’t be about eating very less or not eating at all. In Truweight, we believe you mustn’t be hungry to eat unhealthy foods. Rather, keep yourself full with healthy foods. To know more about our diet plans you can always reach out to us at 08064514959. Our representative will get in touch with you ASAP. 🙂

Omega-3 is an integral part of cell membranes, essential for nerve function and act a launchpad for the production of hormones that regulate the blood, heart, and genetic function. And this Omega-3 is also found to be useful in weight loss. However, instead of going for certain capsules, you can include omega-3 into your diet naturally. Here’s a simple recipe for Omega-3 shake. https://truweight.in/blog/recipes/weight-loss-omega-3-shake.html. 🙂

  61. Mona says:

    Hi,
I am a 38 year old female – height 5’6″ and weight 170lbs (77 kgs). I gained lot of weight after delivery. I am not good at exercising but don’t mind keeping up with the 8 min regimen shown in your video above. Is one set enough or should I go for more sets. Also how much daily walking/treadmill do you recommend.
Also I have a question on mid meals – what should be the time gap between early breakfast and breakfast? Should I exercise before or after breakfast? Thank you.

    • mehnaz says:

      Hi Mona,
Your BMI is 26.6 kg/m2, which belongs to the overweight category. Your ideal body weight should be 64 to 67 kg. So you need to lose 10 to 13 kg to reach the normal BMI. In Truweight, we believe 70 % diet and 30 % physical activity results in healthy weight loss. You can do 30 mins Thread mill daily and be physically active throughout the day.
Ideally, the gap between a major meal and a mid-meal should be 1.30 hrs. You can go for walking early morning before breakfast. Ideally, there should be 45 mins gap between a meal and physical activity.
The above weight loss plan is a general one, you can repeat after 4 months completed. Since your BMI belongs to the overweight category, you can go for Truweight’s customised weight loss program in which you will get a personalised nutritionist who will guide you throughout, For more details please contact at 08064514959. Our representative will get in touch with you, ASAP.

Then in evening- A cup of normal tea with milk and without sugar along with 5 Almonds. Walk again for about 30 minutes-3 km. Dinner @8.30-8.45- A full platter of Veg/Fruit/Sprout/Rajma/Chana- Salad and a bowl of dal/Sabzi with NO Roti/Rice.
There had been two cheat days by default in alternate weeks when I had to travel for official work.

Coming back to weight loss, you are young and hence, you can totally put your efforts. Follow a balanced diet. Don’t starve yourself. 81. Ambuj says:

The diet plan looks good but is it okay for a diabetic patient? I am having type 2 diabetes, may i know any one is there regarding weight loss done through truweight, for diabetes.

    • Madhavi says:

It was when my doctors prescribed me insulin that I thought of a weight loss program. Diabetes, as well as thyroid, came as a shock to me. Although i wanted quick results, I wanted to give natural ways a shot. I came across Truweight and their superfoods and out of desperation to find a solution for my diabetes naturally, I took up the program.

As a diabetic, I know how food can be the most important factor in affecting the sugar levels. And when Truweight’s nutritionists took my diabetes condition as a priority and planned my meals accordingly, I knew I am eating the right foods. It is now over a year that I am having Truweight’s superfoods and have been maintaining my sugar levels. I would say give the superfoods a chance. I am happy and healthy today because of these.

Well done Shobha nice post! keep up the good work! This indian diet plan is really good and it actually helped me learnt one or two new things. The best part is where you talked about the 5 demons. I completely agree with that. Hormonal changes that come along stress pretty much sucks all the motivation out of you. And guess what motivation is what makes you going without giving up. So, my tip to all the ladies is try always to get around the negative thoughts and never give up 🙂

And Shobha i had a little question if you can answer it. Instead of the multigrain roti in the lunch can i eat green vegetables.

    • somaraghavendra says:

Hi Pooja! We are glad to receive your feedback and great to know this 4 weeks Indian weight-loss diet chart & tips helped you in losing weight. We recommend you to consume green vegetables 30 minutes before lunch and then eat multigrain roti. Skipping meals and having only green vegetables will not help you in sustainable weight-loss.
